Shikha's Success Story
Hi, my name is Shikha Nair, and this is my success story.
I sat a major scholarship test called Ignite. Ignite is a selective entrance exam in Adelaide for gifted students, accepting only 100 kids into Glenunga High. It was held on February 23rd. Earlier, I thought my chances of getting in were low.
I was stressed and worried about the test. Around January, I joined Elevare Tutoring. They taught me things I hadn't learned before and gave me strategies to identify patterns in Abstract reasoning immediately.
Diya taught Abstract and Maths. She showed us how to identify patterns at first glance and solve complicated equations. Sometimes in Abstract, you need to look both horizontally and vertically to spot patterns—they can be camouflaged that way. Maths was tricky, but Diya helped me overcome my block and make real progress. I learned new strategies to solve equations and tried different methods instead of my usual ones. It paid off in the end, as these strategies were faster and more accurate. Solving harder equations became a breeze for me.
Sara taught us Reading and Writing. Writing was my strength, but Sara helped me improve it to a more advanced level. She showed me how to include more elements in my stories and helped me structure my narratives properly. She taught me something valuable: when responding to a prompt, focus on a more metaphorical or unique idea rather than using the first thing that comes to mind. This shows the marker that your idea is more creative than others. My reading skills needed more improvement, and she helped me finish the test in a much shorter time and showed me how to find ideas quickly.
In the end, I got into Ignite. My results were: Reading – top 15%, Maths – top 15%, Abstract – top 10%, and Writing – top 1%. I want to thank them for helping me and putting in so much effort.
